Coming back to Animal Logic after five years as a senior lighting artist. The studio developped their own lighting software for their USD pipeline. But thanks to my previous experience, it was fairly easy to pick it up. Mostly because the logic behind it, was still the same.
We don’t always work on the most exciting shots on a production. As I started, another artist left. So I ended up picking up their shots to complete them.
In parallel, I was working on my own sequence. Some exterior shots in the soccer (football) field.
A big part of the movie takes place in the classroom. The mood was bright and sunny for Salinas, keylighting by Gianni Vardanega.
Because some artists left the studio during the production, I had to move to another team. I ended keeping most of my shots from my initial team. But it was challenging to keep up with both teams. For my last sequence, I was in charge of keylighting the sequence in Magicland.
I shared some shots lighting with Luis Fernandez, Gilman Lam, Zora Sung and Omar Wali.
Some other shots where I was in charge of lighting/compositing:
